April 8: At a time when China is preparing to extend railway service to Nepal, southern neighbor India has announced to construct a railway line to connect Raxual with Kathmandu.
The announcement was made during Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's state visit to India.
PM Oli along with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Saturday, April 7, made three crucial bilateral agreements at Hydrabad House in New Delhi which includes the construction of the Raxual-Kathmandu railway line.
The Indian PM also agreed to support Nepal for its access to sea through waterways for conducting trade with third countries.
Similarly, the two countries have also agreed to work jointly for agriculture development projects.
Both the nations aiming for overall economic, social, political and cultural betterment issued a 12-point joint statement on Saturday.
The statement denotes that PM from both the neighboring countries have agreed for enhancing friendly relations and overall betterment of the nation and its citizens.
Similarly, Modi and Oli jointly launched the Integrated Customs Point of Birgunj and the Motihari-Amlekhgunj petroleum pipeline from New Delhi.
PM Oli who landed in New Delhi on Friday is scheduled to arrive back in Kathmandu on Sunday.
