April 17: A total of 194 companies backed by foreign investment have been registered at the Department of Industries of Nepal. The registration was made during the first eight months of the current fiscal year. According to the statistics of the department, 10 large scale industries, four medium scale industries and 180 small scale industries have been registered with foreign investment during the period.
Among them, 11 are agro-based industries; four related to energy; 17 information, media and broadcasting; 39 manufacturing; one mining; 62 service; and 60 tourism-related companies.
The department has collected Rs 34.91 billion from the registration.
The department so far has registered 7,500 companies.
Investment-friendly environment has gradually increased following the formation of sustainable government. The successful conduction of three levels of elections has attracted both local and foreign investment, said Durga Prasad Bhusal, spokesperson at department.
Investment this year has gradually increased in comparison to previous year, he added.
