Government not to Renew Transport Committees to End Syndicate

April 19: In an attempt to end the syndicate system, the government has decided not to register and renew transport committees from District Administration Office. A meeting of the council of ministers took such decision on Tuesday, April 17.

With the implementation of the decision, the organisations operated by transport entrepreneurs in the name of transport committees will shut down ending the syndicate in highways and rural roads of Nepal.

As per the new rules, transport entrepreneurs should register their companies at the Office of Company Registrar. This provision will bring the companies in the purview of taxation system. However, transport entrepreneurs have warned to protest against the decision of the government.
