April 25: Nepal Telecom (NT) has set up a base transceiver station (BTS) at Dhorpatan of Baglung. NT has started GSM mobile service after establishing the 3G BTS tower in north-western Baglung on April 22, the state-owned company said in a statement.
According to the company, the GSM mobile service operates through microwave technology. Furthermore, the company informed that the BTS tower established at Dhorpatan Rural Municipality-9 will provide 3G coverage in all parts of the valley including some areas of Bobang as well.
The service will be benefiting 500 households and tourists visiting the place, according to the company. NT also claimed that the service will help people visiting Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve.
Prativa Baidhya, spokesperson of NT, said that the telecom service was started in Dhorpatan as per the government’s policy to expand telecom services in the rural parts of the country.
