June 5: Nepal Telecom (NT) has started providing free internet service in earthquake-affected districts including Sindhupalchwok, Kavre, Nuwakot and Rasuwa. The state-owned company said it has been providing free internet service in 675 places of these four districts.
According to NT, the free service is available in 187 places of Sidhupalchowk, 289 places of Kavre, 159 places of Nuwakot and 40 places of Rasuwa. The company had aims to provide wide range of free internet services in 747 service-centers of the severely affected quake districts.
More than 90 percent work has been completed so far, said the company adding that the work will be fully accomplished by the mid-July. The free service is available in 284 local units including municipalities, rural municipalities and ward offices as well as 147 health posts and 244 schools.
According to the company, its customers can surf internet free of cost with minimum speed of 512 KBPS.
