NEA signs PPA with Tanahun Hydropower Limited

July 1: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) signed power purchase agreement (PPA) of 140 MW Tanahun Seti Hydropower Project with Tanahun Hydropower Limited on Friday, June 29.

The agreement was signed by Kulman Ghising, managing director of NEA, and Pradip Kumar Thike, managing director of Tanahujn Hydropower Project. The period of agreement will be thirty years from the commercial production or power production license, whichever is shorter. The commercial power production is supposed to start from April 12, 2024.

According to the company, the construction of the project will start from this November. This project is the country’s second reservoir-type project after 36 years. Kulekhani Hydropower Project I (60 MW) is the first such project whose construction was started in December 8, 1982.

Tanahun Seti Hydropower is set to be constructed in company model and is the first PPA reservoir-type project. Kulekhani project was constructed by the government with the financial aid of different sister corporations.
