Supreme Court Allows vehicles over 10 tons to Operate on BP Highways

July 1: Supreme Court of Nepal has directed the government to allow vehicles with 35-seat capacity and 10 tons to operate in BP Highway. A single bench of Justice Ban Kumar Shrestha issued the interim order allowing the vehicles to ply the road. 

Two weeks ago, a single bench of Justice Sapana Malla Pradhan had ordered to restrict vehicles over 19-seat capacity from operating along the highway.

Such conflicting orders from the justices have aroused confusion. The Supreme Court has called government authority and the petitioners on July 10 to discuss on whether to continue with or decline the interim order issued by Justice Shrestha.
