Innovation in Education Fair 2018 concludes

August 28: The Innovation in Education Fair (IEF) 2018 was held recently with the motive of promoting innovative methods and approaches to teaching and learning in schools.

Around 900 visitors attended the fair held at Local Development Training Academy, Jawalakhel from August 16 to 25, said the organiser Quixote’s Cove. According to Quixote’s Cove, it organised the fair in partnership with Srijanalaya, Wildlife Conservation Nepal, Karkhana, The Asia Foundation and Kathmandu University School of Education and was supported by the US Embassy in Nepal.

Issuing a press statement, the organiser said that over 30 organizations and educators participated in the fair as workshop facilitators and exhibiting organizations.

“Each day around 120 teachers and school administrators participated in 15 different workshops on Language Arts, Visual and Performing Arts, and STEAM Education. Offered by various collaborating organizations and individuals, the workshops aimed at immersing the participating educators into innovative methods and approaches to teaching and learning in schools such as instructional leadership, inquiry based learning, project based and teachers’ professional development,” the statement said.

Narbadha Regmi, primary co-ordinator of Kanjirowa Higher Secondary School, shared that she was excited to use the techniques that the facilitators of the workshops used during the fair. She also shared that she got an opportunity to meet many individuals and organizations working in the field of education and hopes that she and her school can work in the future. She also shared that she was excited to use The Asia Foundation’s free library in her own class.
