September 25: NIC Asia Bank won the title of the First Kathmandu Kings XI Corporate Cup this Saturday defeating NLIC by 16 runs in an intriguing final.
According to the organiser Tele Holdings, KKXI Corporate cup featured a total of 14 teams from all the major corporate houses and banks with an initiative to promote cricket and Kathmandu Kings XI as a brand.
The matches were held at Royal KCTC Indoor Venue from September 17 to 22.
“We believe KKXI corporate Cup was well received from all participants and audience that will help us to build relationship with the corporate houses. Our aim to establish this cup as our long-term plan to create a cricket-friendly environment in the corporate houses,” said Raj Jung Thapa, COO of Tele Holdings.
During the final match, NIC Asia Bank won the toss and set the target of 66 where Samir Thapa contributed 21 runs, Bibhav Joshi 21 runs and Gokul Jha 24 runs at the loss of one wicket. In the run chase, NLIC scored a total of 50 runs. Kishor Takachhe contributed 24 runs for NLIC.
Samir Thapa was adjudged the man-of-the-match in the final as well as voted player-of-the-tournament. Reshab Raj (United Cements) won the best bowler award for his outstanding bowling. Sameer Thapa (NIC Asia Bank ) won the best batsman award for his remarkable batting. Sandeep Karki (NIC Asia Bank) received the best fielder award. The match between IMS Group and United Cements was a thrilling match that won the accolade of the best match of KKXI Corporate Cup.
