September 30: Norvic International hospital is planning to add a new wing to the hospital with the aim of converting the hospital into a highly specialized medical center in the country.
Chairman of the hospital, Basant Chaudhary, made such announcement on the occasion of World Heart Day on Saturday, September 29.
The hospital said in a statement that the new wing will have 100 beds.
The hospital further said that it organized various programmes to mark the week long celebrations of World Heart Day, 2018. The World Heart Day is celebrated worldwide on call of World Heart Federation (WHF) to help people better understand and create awareness on cardiovascular diseases including hypertension, according to the statement.
“Heart diseases are increasing globally because of high consumption of tobacco, alcohol, high blood pressure (hypertension), high cholesterol, obesity/overweight, physical inactivity, sedentary lifestyle, stress, diabetes, unhealthy diets and various other reasons,” the statement said, adding, “Cardiovascular disease claims over 17.5 million lives worldwide annually and about 7-8% of urban Nepalese population suffers from this deadly disease.”
Consultant physician and cardiologist at Norvic, Dr JP Jaiswal suggested on adopting healthy diet for healthy heart health.
