Revenue collection up in Birgunj

November 11: Government officials have collected revenue at Birgunj Customs Department more than their target.

The customs point collected an excess of Rs 5.43 billion in first three months of the fiscal year 2018/19.

The department had set a target to collect Rs 37.75 billion but collected Rs 43.19 billion during the period.

Gopal Khatri, chief customs officer of Birgunj Customs Department, informed New Business Age that the collection of revenue has increased by 13 percent this year. Last FY, the department had collected a total of Rs 30.56 billion revenue during the same period.

Increase in import and export through the country’s main trade point has resulted in higher revenue collection, said Khatri.
