‘Govt underperforms on capital expenditure’

November 22: The government is unsatisfied with its capital expenditure in the current fiscal year. This was revealed during the first quarterly review of the policy and programmes of the current FY chaired by Prime Minister KP Oli on Wednesday, November 22.

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the review meeting underscored the need to increase capital expenditure, which was around 18 percent in the review period.

On the occasion, the prime minister directed the ministers and secretaries to work with the spirit of accomplishing the targets set by the budget and according to the policy and programmes of the government.

“In the next quarterly review, the government needs to meet the targets,” RSS quoted the PM as saying.

Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada shared that the progress of the ministries of physical infrastructures, urban development, energy, hydro power and irrigation, agriculture and livestock and the National Reconstruction Authority was reviewed at the meeting, according to RSS.

In addition to the progress review, the problems in the implementation of the policy and programmes were also discussed.

The review will continue on Thursday and Saturday as well.
