Mechi Tourism Festival kicks off

December 21: Mechi Tourism Festival kicked off at the district headquarters of Ilam from Thursday, December 20, with the objective of bringing in 50,000 tourists to Mechi.

According to Rastriya Samachar Samiti, things portraying the literature and cultural aspects have been put on display in the 10-day festival. Similarly, stalls of food items of different ethnic communities have also kept in the festival.

A rally was organised along with Newari, Rai, Gurung, Limbu and Brahmin attire and musical instruments. Tourism sites of four districts of Mechi were exhibited in the rally.

The festival has been organsied with the objective of promoting tourism of four districts of Mechi—Taplejung, Jhapa, Ilam and Panchthar.

A total of 50 stalls have been kept in the festival organised by Tourism Promotion Concerned Committee.
