The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has raised serious concerns over frequent and prolonged power cuts in the industrial sector, warning that unannounced load shedding of up to 12 hours is severely disrupting production and harming the business environment.
In a statement, FNCCI highlighted that unpredictable power outages are causing significant operational disruptions, leading to a sharp decline in industrial output. The Federation noted that industries reliant on continuous power supply are facing mounting challenges, with sudden blackouts damaging machinery and increasing maintenance and replacement costs.
The umbrella organization of industries warned that ongoing power supply instability could reverse recent economic improvements and heighten the risk of a long-term economic crisis.
In this context, FNCCI has urged the government to take immediate steps to ensure an uninterrupted and reliable power supply for the industrial sector. It also called for greater investment in energy infrastructure, improved electricity distribution, and stronger collaboration with the private sector to support long-term industrial growth.
