April 17: Bhat Bhateni Super Market and Departmental Store has announced to become a listed company in the stock market. It will be a second addition to the domestic stock market’s Trading Group which has Bishal Bazzar as the only trading company up until now.
Bhat-Bhateni which is speeding its expansion of branches declared to become a public enterprise so as to give a feel that it is a company of public. Established in 1984 with a capital of Rs 35,000, the transaction of the BBSM is now Rs 25 million daily. Beside the recently opened at World Trade Center at Tripureshowr, the company has opened branches at Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Pokhara on its own building and land.
Bhat-Bhateni is going to expand the branch in Narayangadh too as it recently opened its store in Dharan. With this the number of the company’s branches will reach 12. The company says that it is providing employment opportunity to around 50,000 people with all the branches in operation. The company calls its expansion plans as a ‘starting of the story.’ The company that came into tax evasion row last year shows its interest in transparency by issuing shares to the general public.
