The ‘Chir’, a ceremonial bamboo pole adorned with vibrant strips of cloth, has been installed in front of Gaddi Baithak at Basantapur Durbar Square, Kathmandu. This traditional installation marks the official commencement of the Phagu Purnima or Holi.
This year, Holi – the festival of colours – will be celebrated in the hilly regions, including the Kathmandu Valley, on Thursday, March 13, while people in the Tarai region will observe it the following day.
