The Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) organized an interaction program on the Citizen Pension Scheme in Pokhara with a focus on ensuring social security. At the event, Bharatmani Pandey, the Chief District Officer of Kaski, emphasized the importance of social security for all citizens, stating that citizens thrive in countries with robust social security programs. He noted that the civil pension scheme and other initiatives offered by CIT would help relieve stress for citizens.
During the program, Gokarna Karki, president of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reiterated the private sector's commitment to collaborate with the CIT. Participants raised questions about various CIT services, including the approved retirement fund, civil pension scheme, gratuity scheme, housing loan, simple loan (80 percent loan agreement), and civil unit scheme.
Shobha Shrestha, Deputy Executive Director of CIT, addressed the queries, clarifying the distinct roles of the Employee Provident Fund, Citizen Investment Trust, and Social Security Fund. She explained that the Government of Nepal established CIT in response to the need for such institutions.
Navaraj Gautam, head of CIT's Pokhara branch, provided further details about the branch's services. He mentioned that CIT offers additional returns on interest to service seekers and also includes accident insurance. Additionally, he informed participants that the fund invests in real estate, apartments, and housing development.
