February 18 : Construction of the much-touted International Convention Center in Butwal has been started. The construction has been started a year after the agreement was signed in this regard.
The delay has been attributed to procedural hassles. First-phase of the construction has been initiated by chopping down 125 trees across the proposed site for the convention center. The center is to be designed as symbols of moon and sun portrayed on the national flag.
The Department of Urban Development and Building Construction has initiated the construction of the convention center. The total cost estimated for building the entire structure amounts to around 1.77 billion rupees.
