Madan Lamsal, Editor-in-Chief of New Business Age Magazine and Aarthik Abhiyan National Daily, has been honoured with Dr. Yadav Prasad Pant Journalism Award.
Dr. Yadav Prasad Pant Research and Development Foundation on Sunday, November 17, felicitated Lamsal for his contribution in the field of economic and business journalism amid a special ceremony in Kathmandu.
Lamsal, who has been actively involved in this sector for three decades, has written extensively on economic issues through both print and online media.
Receiving the award, Lamsal expressed his gratitude to the foundation, adding that the recognition has boosted his sense of responsibility.
On the same occasion, Prem Kumari Rai, the president of Home Based Women Workers’ Dhaka Entrepreneur Society (Griha Shramik Mahila Dhaka Uddhami Samaj) was awarded with the Rama Devi Pant Social Honour.
In the award ceremony marking the 100th birth anniversary of Former Finance and Water Resources Minister Dr. Yadav Prasad Pant, former minister Balaram Gharti Magar was given commendations.
Gharti Magar recalled Dr. Pant as an amiable and patriotic individual, adding that his contribution would never be forgotten.
The foundation also launched the book titled “Samjhanama Dr. Yadav Prasad Pant”. It was unveiled by Madhav Prasad Regmi, Chairman of the Public Service Commission.
Regmi also spoke about Dr. Pant’s contribution in the social and economic sectors. “Dr. Pant was not only an economist but also a successful diplomat who made significant contributions to the development of the nation,” Regmi said.
Dr. Yadav Prasad Pant, a renowned planner and economist of Nepal, earned his Doctorate in Economics from Banaras Hindu University in 1952.
After returning to Nepal, he briefly taught economics at Tri-Chandra College. Dr. Pant went on to serve as an economic advisor to the Government of Nepal, became the Finance Secretary, and a member of the National Planning Commission over the years.
Dr. Pant also served as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank April 1968 to April 1973. Nepal received significant economic assistance under his initiative when he was Nepal's Ambassador to Japan. He also served as the country’s ambassador to Australia, the Philippines, and South Korea.
