The Nepal Automobiles Association has kicked off the 'NADA Auto Show 2024' today (Tuesday), with a grand inauguration by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel. The five-day event is being held at the Bhrikutimandap exhibition ground in Kathmandu, featuring 55 vehicle brands.
While previous editions predominantly showcased petroleum vehicles, the 16th edition marks a noticeable shift towards electric vehicles (EVs). Many companies, represented by their official sellers and distributors in Nepal, are exhibiting new models of motorcycles, cars, and electric microbuses.
Among the highlights is the 'Hyundai Venue,' an indigenously produced vehicle, which is being exhibited alongside two other variants: the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the All-New Hyundai Creta. Hyundai Motor Company is also showcasing the new A-segment subcompact EV 'Ioniq 5,' which boasts an attractive design, a segment-leading driving range, and advanced technology, offering a mileage of up to 355 km with a sophisticated technology package.
Another standout at the show is the Skywell ET5, an electric vehicle produced by Chinese manufacturer Skywell. This model, available with a range of 410 km and 520 km, is priced between Rs 7.99 million and Rs 8.99 million, making it the highest-range EV available in Nepal.
CG Motors, the official dealer of GAC Motors, has introduced the 'Aion Y' model, a feature-loaded electric crossover. Meanwhile, Paramount Motors has brought the MG Cyberster sports car, with a maximum retail price of Rs 16.79 million, which is expected to be a major attraction.
BYD's 2024 version of the Atto 3, officially released by Cimex Inc. Pvt Ltd, is also featured at the show. This model comes with a new BYD app and is priced at Rs 5.69 million.
Chinese car manufacturer Changan is unveiling the new Deepal L7 electric sedan at the NADA Auto Show. The Deepal L7 follows the premium electric SUV Deepal S7, which is already in the market.
The show also features Nexon Ventures' 'Premium SUV EV 01' and the 'BMW iX1,' both expected to draw significant attention. Additionally, Dongfeng's passenger vehicle 'Nammi-1,' and Chery's sub-brand Jaecoo J6, imported by SPG Automobiles, the official distributor of Omoda cars in Nepal, will be on display. The Jaeco J6 is priced at Rs 6.99 million.
CG Motors and MAW Vriddhi have introduced the Chinese EV Avatr 11, priced at Rs 14.5 million.
Mahindra's XUV300, with a price range of Rs 6.69 million to Rs 6.66 million, is another potential crowd-puller. This model is available in two variants and is equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine.
GWM's sub-brand Tank 500, introduced in Nepal by VG Impex Pvt Ltd, is a high-end hybrid SUV designed for off-road use, priced at Rs 19.1 million.
The "Link Tour K-10 hatchback, a mid-range vehicle introduced in Nepal by VG Lube, is priced at Rs 3 million. Zeekr X, a premium electric brand from Chinese automaker Geely, is also making an appearance, with prices ranging from Rs 8.99 million for the two-wheel-drive variant to Rs 15.99 million for the four-wheel-drive version.
The Brumby electric hatchback by Chinese brand BAW, brought to Nepal by LRR Motors, features a 17.28 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, offering a range of up to 205 kilometers on a full charge.
Likewise, CG Motors is introducing Xpeng's new EV brand, with the G6 model featuring two battery options of 66 kWh and 87.5 kWh, providing a range of 580 to 755 kilometers on a full charge.
The NADA Auto Show organizer has also confirmed that several other brands and models, including the BYD MCX, Radar RD6, GAC Aion V, and Kaiyi E5, will be showcased during the event.
