Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), on Saturday, April 26, emphasized the need for a stronger role by the Nepali state in promoting intellectual property (IP) registration and protection.
Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Nepal Copyright Registrar's Office to mark World Intellectual Property Day, Dhakal highlighted the persistent challenges stemming from a lack of public awareness about IP rights.
“The complexities surrounding trademarks must be addressed promptly,” he said, stressing that the swift resolution of complaints related to trademarks and patents is critical to fostering a more vibrant business environment.
This year, World Intellectual Property Day was celebrated under the theme: “IP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP.”
