Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has proposed launching direct flights between Dubai and Pokhara International Airport. She raised the issue during a meeting with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh in Muscat, Oman, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference.
According to Dr. Rana’s secretariat, she urged the UAE to explore the feasibility of direct connectivity to enhance tourism and economic ties between the two countries. In response, Minister Sayegh assured that a technical study would be conducted to advance plans for the flights.
The two leaders also discussed strengthening Nepal-UAE relations, particularly in labour, tourism, economic cooperation, and climate change risk mitigation. Minister Rana thanked the UAE for providing employment opportunities to Nepali workers, while Minister Sayegh acknowledged their contributions to the UAE’s socio-economic development.
Additionally, Minister Rana invited the UAE to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambaad, scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18. She highlighted the forum’s focus on addressing critical regional and global challenges, including climate change. -- RSS
