The price of gold in Nepal has reached a new all-time high, hitting Rs 176,200 per tola (11.66 grams) today, March 28. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, this marks an increase of Rs 1,400 from Thursday, when the precious yellow metal was priced at Rs 174,800 per tola.
Before this, the previous record high was set on March 19. This latest surge follows a significant price increase earlier in the month, when gold rose by Rs 4,000 on March 14 to reach Rs 174,500 per tola. The price then climbed further to Rs 175,200 per tola on March 18, before setting a new record today.
Dharmasundar Bajracharya, first vice president of the Federation, attributed the rising gold prices to external factors, particularly the appreciation of the US dollar and global political developments. He noted that Nepal’s domestic gold prices are closely aligned with international market trends.
“The price has increased due to the appreciation of the US dollar, international political developments, etc. The local market has reached its highest price ever after adjusting to international market prices,” Bajracharya told RSS in a recent interview.
In the international market, gold is currently being traded at USD 3,073 per ounce. Meanwhile, the price of silver has also increased by Rs 20 per tola, reaching Rs 2,040 in the domestic market. -- RSS
