The government has taken the initiative to open a track for an alternative route to the Muglin-Narayangadh section, which is prone to landslides during monsoon causing traffic disruption.
The new route—Muglin-Gaighat-Dasdhunga-Thimura-Gaindakot—is being developed as an alternative to ease transportation in the region.
To support this project, the Department of Roads has allocated Rs 26.93 million for the current fiscal year. Work is currently underway to open the track from Pulzeep in Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-4, Tanahun district.
The government has already awarded the contract for the first phase of the road project, which will connect Muglin to Gaindakot in Nawalpur via Gaighat, Dasdhunga, Thimura, and Devpur of Devghat.
Keshav Chandra Neupane, a resident of Devghat, said the government has finally responded to the long-standing demand of locals for an alternative route.
Locals had urged authorities to build a road linking Dasdhunga via British Camp in Gaindakot Municipality-3 and Devpur in Devghat Rural Municipality-5, as well as an alternative route from Dasdhunga to Muglin along the banks of the Trishuli River in Tanahun.
Devghat Rural Municipality Chair Til Bahadur Thapa stated that the municipality would take further initiatives for the construction of the road. He added that since Devghat is currently not connected to the national highway, the proposed road from Gaindakot to Dasdhunga via Devghat would enhance religious tourism in the area. -- RSS
