Traffic along the Nagma-Gamgadhi road has resumed after three days of disruption caused by heavy snowfall. The road, blocked since Thursday in the Satmod, Siptichaur, and Bulbule areas along the Karnali Highway, was cleared by Sunday evening.
A joint effort by the Road Division Office, Jumla, and the Nepali Army began on Friday to remove snow and landslides. Following the reopening, goods and passenger vehicles traveling to and from Mugu have resumed movement. Tourists visiting Rara Lake, who had been stranded in Bulbule for three days, have also continued their journeys.
“With the road now open, all vehicles, big and small, are moving towards their destinations,” said Chief District Officer Kamal Prasad Pandey. According to Dipendra Chaudhary, Chief of the Road Division Office, Jumla, snow and landslides were cleared from a four-kilometer stretch in the Bhalbhule, Satmod, and Gia Bhid areas.
The Nagma-Gamgadhi road, a crucial section of the Karnali Highway, connects travelers to Nepal’s largest lake, Rara, and religious sites such as Chhaya Kshetra, Rini Moksha, and Tharpamashta. However, frequent blockages during winter and the rainy season persist due to the lack of road upgrades. -- RSS
