Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey announced that preparations are underway to designate 2025-2035 as the Tourism Decade to promote Nepal as a global tourism destination.
Speaking at a meeting of the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee of the National Assembly on Tuesday, Minister Pandey highlighted the importance of financial readiness for the initiative. Discussions are ongoing to secure state investment and explore foreign assistance for this ambitious tourism promotion campaign, he said.
Addressing questions from parliamentarians, the minister emphasized the government’s efforts to address issues in the culture, tourism, and aviation sectors.
“The federal government has prioritized requests for support related to stupas, temples, and mosques. We evaluate how federal, provincial, and local governments can contribute and act accordingly,” Pandey explained.
Regarding airport management, Minister Pandey said feasibility studies are being conducted to assess the requirements for airport construction, protection, and maintenance. "Efforts are focused on improving all operational airports to ensure excellence in every aspect," he added.
The minister also revealed a recent policy decision mandating that all government printing tasks will be handled by the press at the Nepal Academy. -- RSS
