Dabur Nepal contributed 7.21% to Nepal's total goods exports in the fiscal year 2023/24, according to a report by CARE Ratings. The company earned Rs 10.98 billion through exports during the period, securing its position as the country's third-largest exporter.
Data from the Trade and Export Promotion Center showed that exports of iron and iron-related products led the national export chart with an 11.4% share, followed by yarn at 7.9%. Dabur Nepal’s performance placed it just behind these two categories. Carpet exports, in comparison, accounted for 6.9% of total exports.
The majority of Dabur Nepal’s export revenue was driven by its juice segment, particularly under the 'Real' brand, with India being a key market. In addition to beverages, the company exports a range of personal care and healthcare products, including Chyawanprash, Glucose, Vatika Shampoo, toothpaste, and Hajmola. Dabur Nepal also engages in the collection and export of herbs to India.
Dabur Nepal, which is 97.5% owned by Dabur India Limited, has recently secured a CARE NP A1 Plus credit rating—the highest rating category—enabling it to obtain a bank loan of Rs 6.6 billion. As per Nepal Rastra Bank regulations, companies seeking loans exceeding Rs 500 million must undergo credit assessment.
The company's total operating income rose to Rs 16.16 billion in FY 2023/24, marking an 18% increase from the previous fiscal year. This growth was largely attributed to a 29% surge in export earnings. In contrast, domestic sales growth remained modest at 5.5%, a slowdown attributed to price adjustments and fluctuations in raw material costs.
CARE Ratings also noted a significant boost in Dabur Nepal's financial resilience, with total cash reserves climbing by 39% to Rs 2.54 billion. The report highlighted that the company has maintained a low debt profile, with only short-term working capital loans outstanding.
Established in Nepal in 1989 and beginning production in 1992, Dabur Nepal has grown into a leading force in the country's fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. The company operates 300 distribution centers and services around 100,000 retail outlets nationwide.
