Hotel Barahi Kathmandu has received the prestigious "Eco Footprint" certificate from Travel Operators for Tigers (ToFT), a globally recognized organization promoting sustainable tourism practices.
ToFT awarded the certificate amid a program held on Sunday, recognizing the hotel for its outstanding integration of sustainable development practices and effective environmental balance, the state-owned national news agency RSS reported.
Roshan Sapkota, general manager of Hotel Barahi, told RSS that the certification was granted after a thorough evaluation based on various criteria. He added that ToFT recognized the hotel as an "Outstanding Practice Accommodation Provider" for the period spanning September 2024 to August 2027.
According to RSS, the eco-footprint rating assessed the hotel’s environmental impact and its commitment to incorporating environmental and social considerations into daily operations. The evaluation also highlighted the hotel's adherence to sustainability standards in decision-making and program implementation.
