India-based Pristine Mega Logistics Park Pvt. Ltd. has been awarded the contract to manage and operate the Birgunj Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) for the next five years, starting mid-July 2025.
The Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Board (NITDB) selected Pristine Mega Logistics Park through a competitive bidding process, NITDB Executive Director Ashish Gajurel told state-run news agency RSS. The company secured the contract with a bid of Rs 4.71 billion.
The tender process included technical evaluations, with Container Corporation of India Ltd. and Pristine Mega Logistics Park emerging as the top contenders. Ultimately, Pristine secured the contract, having previously managed the dry port for five years at a cost of Rs 3.33 billion.
Located in Sirsiya, Birgunj, the dry port spans 57 bighas. The goods are transported to the port via cargo trains.
The ICD was constructed in 2000 with World Bank loan assistance, costing Rs 820 million. Additionally, a railway link from Raxaul to the dry port was built with a Rs 200 million grant from the Government of India.
The Birgunj Dry Port Customs Office has reported revenue collection of Rs 32.32 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. In contrast, the total revenue in the last fiscal year stood at Rs 47.31 billion.
