Flower shops, malls, and other locations across Kathmandu Valley buzzed with Valentine's Day celebrations on Friday, as couples exchanged flowers and spent time together.
Nepal’s rose market typically flourishes in the week leading up to Valentine’s Day. The Floriculture Association of Nepal estimates that around 425,000 stem roses will be commercially traded between February 7 and 14 this year, with approximately 255,000 sold within Kathmandu Valley alone.
However, 75% of these flowers are imported, primarily from India.
