Kathmandu University (KU) has decided to implement a credit transfer system for students returning from foreign universities, allowing them to complete their remaining semesters at KU based on their academic records.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of KU, Prof Dr Achyut Wagle, stated that the decision was made following discussions between university officials and students facing academic difficulties abroad.
During a meeting on Friday, officials emphasized that the initiative would provide relief to affected students by enabling them to continue their studies at KU after presenting proof of completing previous coursework at their respective universities.
"We haven't finalized the study fees yet, but students will be able to transfer their remaining semesters here. The degree will be awarded by Kathmandu University. Our goal is to support students who wish to continue their education. Additionally, we will arrange for examinations to be conducted at KU for students who have already completed their courses elsewhere," Wagle said.
Regarding Nepali students facing problems at KIIT University in Odisha, Wagle noted that although KU does not have a formal agreement with the institution, diplomatic and academic discussions should be pursued to address the issue.
Associate Dean of KU’s School of Engineering, Shyam Sundar Khadka, added that necessary policies are being put in place to facilitate examinations for students who have completed courses at various universities. -- RSS
