Life insurance companies in Nepal have collectively earned Rs 108.71 billion in insurance premiums by mid-March of the current fiscal year.
According to data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, the total premium income of 14 life insurance companies increased by 10.33 percent compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. By mid-March last fiscal year, these companies had earned Rs 98.53 billion in premiums.
Among the 14 companies, all except National Life Insurance Company saw an increase in premium collection. National Life Insurance earned Rs 5.23 billion in premiums by mid-March last fiscal year, but this declined to Rs 4.47 billion in the current fiscal year.
Nepal Life Insurance Company reported the highest premium earnings, collecting Rs 29.39 billion by mid-March—an 11.78 percent increase from Rs 26.3 billion in the previous fiscal year. National Life Insurance Company ranked second, earning Rs 13.62 billion in premiums.
