A loan agreement has been signed for the 4.6 MW Super Machha Khola Hydropower Project, set to be constructed in Laprak, Dharche Municipality-4, Gorkha district, with investment from Rastriya Banijya Bank.
The agreement was signed by Khagendra Neupane, Chairman of Budhigandaki Hydropower Pvt. Ltd., the project’s promoter, and Devendra Raman Khanal, Chief Executive Officer of the bank.
The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 963.83 million, with 70% of the funding provided through loans and the remaining 30% through equity investment.
Rastriya Banijya Bank will invest Rs 674.68 million in loan funding, while the rest, Rs 289.15 million, will be covered by equity, according to the promoter company.
The project is expected to generate 27.379 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually—18.621 GWh during the monsoon and 8.75 GWh during the dry season.
The project is led by an experienced team, including Chairman Neupane, Managing Director Krishna Prasad Ghimire, and Directors Saroj Dhital, Jon Ghale, Indra Bahadur Dhakal, and Binod Thapa.
The group had previously completed and launched a 4.55 MW hydropower project in the same region, six months ahead of schedule. The company is also in the process of issuing an Initial Public Offering (IPO).
The team aims to bring the hydropower project into operation within the next 18 months.
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed with the Nepal Electricity Authority on July 6, 2023, and the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been completed, according to the company.
