The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has allocated a budget of Rs 10 million for the expansion of Tarigaun Airport in Tulsipur, Dang.
Additionally, the ministry has communicated with the Ministry of Finance to ensure an additional budget of Rs 990 million, Deputy Mayor of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, Syani Chaudhary, informed the state-owned news agency RSS.
Established in 2011 BS, the airport currently has a 750-meter runway, accommodating only 19-seater aircraft. However, stakeholders believe that if the runway is extended to 1,500 meters, the airport will be capable of handling 72-seater aircraft.
Chaudhary confirmed that preparations are underway to commence the expansion work.
The development follows a recent visit to the airport by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
