Namaste Infotech, one of the leading IT services providers in Nepal, is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Thursday, January 30.
Since its inception in 2010, the company has provided a wide range of services, including cloud solutions, network security, end-to-end IT solutions, and managed IT services, catering to government agencies, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and other public and private institutions.
“We specialize in solutions that safeguard data and ensure seamless operations,” said Roshan Pandey, Managing Director of Namaste Infotech.
Currently employing 20 professionals, the company has navigated challenges in a sector that remains underappreciated in Nepal.
“Although awareness of IT has grown, the industry still does not receive the attention it deserves,” Pandey remarked.
Initially focused solely on infrastructure-related services, the company later diversified its offerings to reduce operational costs. “To optimize expenses, we began selling products by partnering with multiple companies,” Pandey explained.
Chairman Ekraj Sedai highlighted a recurring issue: the lack of priority given to IT infrastructure during project planning. “IT infrastructure often gets insufficient funding or is entirely overlooked, leading to increased costs later,” he stated.
Both Pandey and Sedai voiced concerns over the preference for foreign consultants in IT projects. “These consultants often bring their own teams and products, sidelining local expertise,” they noted.
While investment in IT software has grown post-COVID, hardware and infrastructure investments have declined, Pandey pointed out. “For instance, while many local governments have installed CCTVs, they have neglected the creation and management of data centers. Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), in particular, lack systematic infrastructure for data collection, security, backup, and management,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Namaste Infotech plans to expand its client base, particularly in the financial sector, including banking. The company also aims to import and distribute connectivity products, such as network devices and video conferencing tools, in the near future.
