N cell, the largest private sector telecom operator has upgraded its network to next generation technology. According to a statement issued by the company, Ncell is the first service provider to use this technology among the TeliaSonera Group which has operations in 20 countries including the Scandinavia and Central Asia.

Pasi Koistinen, the CEO of Ncell said more than 250 experts worked on this project round the clock to upgrade the data of over four million customers. It took nine months to implement and move over to the new system, adds the company. The system was upgraded in the last week of March. The company claims that the new hardware capacity is equivalent to over 1,000 laptops. Five kilometres of cable was installed for the project.
