Nepal entered the semi-finals of the SAFF Women's Championship 2024 on Thursday defeating Sri Lanka 6-0 in the last group-stage match at the Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwar.
With the victory, Nepal topped Group B with 7 points, followed by Bhutan in the second place. As the group winner, Nepal will next face Group A runner-up India in the semi-finals on Sunday.
During the match on Thursday evening, Sabita Ranamagar gave Nepal the lead by scoring in the 8th minute of the game while Sabitra Bhandari (Samba) made it 2-0 in the 11th minute. Similarly, Rekha Paudel scored to make it 3-0 in the 13th minute of the game and added another goal in the 36th minute to give the hosts a 4-0 lead in the first half.
In the second half, Amisha Karki and Rashmi Ghising scored in the 47th minute and the 94th minutes of the game respectively to complete the rout.
Meanwhile, Group A winner Bangladesh will face Group B runner-up Bhutan in the first semi-final on Sunday. -- RSS
