Nepal and India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in drinking water, sanitation, and waste management. Nepal’s Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav and India’s Minister for Water Resources CR Patil signed the agreement in New Delhi on Monday.
According to Engineer Ram Kumar Shrestha, Director General of the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management, the MoU aims to improve access to clean drinking water, promote sanitation, manage waste, and support Nepal’s efforts in water security. It includes provisions for groundwater management, rainwater harvesting, technology exchange, and technical training for Nepal.
The signing ceremony in New Delhi was attended by Nepal’s Ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, senior officials from both governments, and representatives from the water supply ministries of Nepal and India.
Minister Yadav is set to return to Nepal on Tuesday (March 4). -- RSS
