The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped 0.51 percent, or 14.08 points, on Tuesday, February 4, closing at 2,715.91, following three consecutive days of growth.
Daily turnover, too, dropped, totalling over Rs 8.91 billion. It had exceeded Rs 11.87 billion the previous day.
A total of 16,917,835 shares changed hands through 90,202 transactions.
All major indices ended the day in the red. The Sensitive Index declined by 0.54 percent, while the Float Index and the Sensitive Float Index slipped by 0.51 percent and 0.47 percent, respectively.
Joshi Hydropower Development Company Ltd (JOSHI) became the top gainer of the day with its share price rising by 9.98 percent. Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL) and Madhya Bhotekoshi Jalavidyut Company Limited (MBJC) followed, posting gains of 8.30 percent and 8.25 percent, respectively.
Conversely, Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL), Green Development Bank Ltd. (GRDBL), and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd. (SINDU) hit the lower circuit limit, making them the day's biggest losers.
In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led the market, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and Himalaya Urja Bikas Company Limited (HURJA).
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, only two ended the day in the green. The Others Index recorded the highest gain of 0.43 percent, while the Hydropower Index surged 0.15 percent. The Development Bank Index, however, suffered the biggest decline of 2.60 percent.
