The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index surged for the fourth straight session on Wednesday, July 2, gaining 1.29% or 34.42 points to close at 2,694.82.
This follows a 1.09% gain on Sunday, a 0.35% rise on Monday, and a 1.02% increase on Tuesday, marking a sustained recovery after three consecutive sessions of decline.
Among major sub-indices, the Sensitive Index climbed 1.20%, the Float Index rose 1.40%, and the Sensitive Float Index added 1.34%.
Trading activity, too, picked up, with daily turnover exceeding 9.74 billion, compared to over Rs 7.03 billion the previous day.
Over 30.1 million shares were traded across 89,468 transactions, compared to 15.75 million shares in 70,214 transactions the previous day.
Of the 248 listed companies that traded on Wednesday, 182 advanced, 65 declined, and one remained unchanged.
Top gainers of the day included Green Development Bank Ltd. (GRDBL) and Khanikhola Hydropower Co. Ltd. (KKHC), both hitting the upper circuit with a 9.99% rise. GRDBL closed at Rs 1,516.80 per share, while KKHC ended at Rs 432.70.
The biggest loser was 9% ICFC Finance Limited Debenture 2088 (ICFCD88), which fell by 3.73% to Rs 1,083 per unit.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) topped the turnover chart with Rs 555.32 million in transactions. Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS) and Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd. (SAPDBL) followed, with turnovers of Rs 494.12 million and Rs 350.01 million, respectively.
All 13 sectoral indices ended in positive territory. Life Insurance gained the most, up 2.83%, followed by Non-Life Insurance (2.51%) and Development Banks (2.31%). The Mutual Fund sub-index gained marginally by 0.06%.
NEPSE’s total market capitalization rose to Rs 4,489.96 billion, up from Rs 4,432.60 billion on Tuesday.
