The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index climbed 49.15 points to close at 2,815.04 on Thursday, February 27, marking its eighth consecutive day of gains. The 1.77% surge follows a modest 0.25% rise on Tuesday.
The market remained closed on Tuesday due to a public holiday for Mahashivaratri.
The daily turnover, too, exceeded Rs 11.39 billion on the last trading day of the week, up from over Rs 9.90 billion on Tuesday. More than 26 million shares were traded across 112,032 transactions.
All three major indices closed in the green: the Sensitive Index rose by 2.12%, the Float Index gained 1.96%, and the Sensitive Float Index increased by 2.29%.
Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited (GMLI) and Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company Limited (UHEWA) topped the day’s gains, hitting the upper circuit limit. Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU) and Dordi Khola Jal Bidyut Company Limited (DORDI) followed closely, with their share prices rising by 9.99% each.
On the downside, Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited (BEDC) recorded the largest loss, with its share price falling by 7.17%.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) led the market in terms of turnover, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN).
All 13 sub-indices ended the day in the green. The Banking Sub-Index posted the largest gain of 3.32%, while the Finance Index recorded the smallest gain of 0.28%.
