The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged 0.07% (by 1.83 points) on Wednesday, January 15, to close at 2,595.96, following a 0.59% decline on Monday, the previous trading day.
The market was closed on Tuesday due to the public holiday for Maghe Sankranti. Last week, NEPSE had gained 48.99 points, recovering from the previous week's 36.88-point drop.
The daily turnover on Wednesday surpassed Rs 5.82 billion. It had exceeded Rs 6.65 billion on Monday. A total of 10,745,427 shares changed hands through 63,374 transactions.
The Sensitive Index and Sensitive Float Index declined by 0.54 percent and 0.40 percent, respectively, while the Float Index slightly surged by 0.01 percent.
Dolti Power Company Limited (DOLTI) emerged as the day’s top gainer, hitting the upper circuit limit. Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) followed with a 9.81 percent increase in its share price.
On the contrary, the Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) hit the lower circuit limit to become the biggest loser. Pokhara Finance Ltd. (PFL) also saw a significant drop, with its share price declining by 9.05 percent.
NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led in terms of turnover, followed by Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) and Sindhu Bikash Bank Ltd (SINDU).
Sector-wise, six indices closed in negative territory. The Hydropower Index recorded the highest gain of 1.76%, while the Finance Index suffered the biggest loss of 3.48%.
