The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index surged 0.12% (3.35 points) to close at 2,758.75 on Monday, February 24, marking its sixth consecutive day of gains. It follows a 0.42% rise the previous day.
The daily turnover, however, declined on the day. It surpassed Rs 11.08 billion, compared to over Rs 11.54 billion in the previous session.
More than 21 million shares were traded across 103,262 transactions.
Only the Sensitive Index closed in the green, increasing by 0.13%. The Float Index saw a minor decline of 0.04%, while the Sensitive Float Index remained unchanged.
Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited (GMLI) led the day’s gains, hitting the upper circuit limit with its stock price rising to Rs 858.20 per unit. Rapti Hydro And General Construction Limited (RHGCL) followed, with its share price increasing by 9.47% to Rs 705 per unit.
On the other end, Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) recorded the biggest loss, hitting the lowest circuit limit.
Himalayan Reinsurance (HRL) led the market in the turnover front with Rs 893.53 million. It was followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company (NRIC) with Rs 806.71 million and NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) with Rs 449.47 million.
Of the 13 NEPSE sub-indices, only four ended the day in the green. The Others Index posted the largest gain, rising 2.50% to close at 2,380.94, while the Finance Index saw the steepest decline, falling 1.21% to close at 2,814.53.
