In the first five months of the current fiscal year, non-life insurance companies in Nepal have generated over Rs. 17.17 billion in premiums.
According to data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority, 14 non-life insurance companies operating in the country achieved this figure between mid-July and mid-December. The premiums collected during this period represent a 9.27% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, when the companies had collected Rs 15.72 billion.
Sagarmatha Lumbini General Insurance (Salico) emerged as the top performer, earning over Rs 2.19 billion in premiums from mid-July to mid-December. This represents a 10% increase compared to the Rs 1.99 billion the company collected in the same period of the last fiscal year.
Siddhartha Premium Insurance Company ranked second in terms of premium collection, recording Rs 1.76 billion by mid-December.
Oriental Insurance Company showed the highest percentage growth, with insurance premiums increasing by 54.98%. The company’s premiums rose to over Rs 1.12 billion in the review period this year from Rs. 727.1 million in the same period of previous fiscal year.
Out of the 14 companies, two—United Ajod Insurance and Prabhu Insurance—reported a decline in premiums during the first five months of the current fiscal year. However, the remaining 12 companies achieved growth in their premiums.
