Sichuan Airlines is all set to begin regular commercial chartered flights between Chengdu, China, and Pokhara International Airport starting Tuesday. The flights coincide with the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) expects this air service to boost tourism and cultural exchange by establishing a direct regional air connection between Nepal and China. "The Pokhara-Chengdu air service will make travel easier for people from mid and western Nepal while offering Chinese tourists the opportunity to visit the scenic city of Pokhara," NTB stated in a press release on Sunday.
The statement also highlighted that improved air connectivity will help increase foreign tourist arrivals in Nepal, supporting both China’s Visit Nepal 2025 initiative and Nepal’s Pokhara Tourism Year campaign.
A Nepali delegation will travel from Chengdu to Pokhara on a commercial chartered flight as part of the Pokhara-Chengdu Flight Promotion and China (Sichuan) Sales Mission 2025. The delegation will hold meetings with government and private sector representatives in multiple Chinese cities, including Chengdu.
NTB expressed confidence that this initiative will further position Nepal as an international tourism destination while strengthening cultural ties between the two countries. -- RSS
