The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has urged the government to immediately engage in diplomatic talks with China to facilitate the movement of pilgrims to Kailash Mansarovar via checkpoints such as Tatopani, Korola, and Hilsa.
Pilgrims heading to the holy site in Tibet have faced difficulties after a flash flood in the Lhende stream swept away the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge at Rasuwagadhi Customs Point on July 8.
The stream, which joins the Bhotekoshi after passing the checkpoint, swept away vehicles parked at the dry port in Timure and severely damaged the under-construction facility itself.
In a statement issued Saturday, TAAN said the disruption has caused significant inconvenience and called on Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate with the Chinese Embassy to streamline the visa process.
TAAN President Sagar Pandey also urged the government to ensure smooth visa issuance for both tourists and pilgrims.
