President Ram Chandra Poudel will present government’s policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year in a joint session of the Federal Parliament today, May 2.
President Poudel is scheduled to address the joint meeting of both houses of Parliament at 3:00 pm, outlining the government's policy agenda. The session will be held in accordance with Article 95 of the Constitution of Nepal, which allows the President to address a joint sitting of both houses.
According to Padma Prasad Pandey, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the meeting's agenda has been finalized. Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged members of the House of Representatives to be seated in the chamber in formal attire by 2:45 p.m.
The ruling parties have already held discussions on shaping the policies and programmes to help revitalize the economy. The new agenda is expected to focus on youth engagement, entrepreneurship, skill development, startups, business promotion, increased government spending, and improved governance.
The Federal Parliament will hold discussions on the policies and programmes from May 5 to 11.
Meanwhile, discussions on the principles and priorities of the upcoming Appropriation Bill—regarded as a pre-budget debate—will begin on May 13. As per constitutional provisions, the Finance Minister will present the annual budget in a joint session of Parliament on May 29. -- RSS
