September 11: The reconstruction of Langtang trekking route, damaged by the April 25 earthquake, is going ahead full-speed, according to Suppa Tamang, chairman of the local consumer group
The group aims to reconstruct the route within a month. It has received an assistance of Rs 1.5 million from District Development Committee and daily. A total of 70 labourers, who were ferried to Ghodatabela on a chopper, are working on the trail.
The April 25 earthquake damaged different parts of trekking route from Syafrobeshi to Kyanjen. As per Tamang, 496 people from 116 households were displaced by the earthquake, and are now staying at the Yellow Gumba in the capital. Once the trekking route is ready, the displaced family will also be able to come back, said Tamang.
