April 4: The government has formed a separate unit to control the excessive dust and air pollution in Kathmandu.
The unit has been set up under the Ministry of Forest and Environment upon the directive of Minister Sakti Bahadur Basnet.
The unit is headed by Under-Secretary Sankhar Prasad Poudyal of the Department of Environment, informed MoFE Secretary Prakash Manandhar.
We have formed the unit under the command of Minister Basnet and the unit will responsibly work for dust control, Manandhar added.
Minster Basnet reported that the unit will work to transform Kathmandu to a dust-free city aiming to help the locals to walk freely without the use of mask.
