Nepal recorded a slight drop in arrival of international tourists in June 2025, with a total of 76,425 foreign visitors entering the country, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board. This figure represents a 0.4% decrease compared to the same month last year, when 76,736 tourists visited Nepal — a drop of 311 visitors.
Despite the marginal year-on-year drop, the June 2025 figure represents a 2.1 percent increase compared to the pre-pandemic level of June 2019, when Nepal welcomed 74,883 foreign visitors. The data suggests a steady recovery in Nepal’s tourism sector following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
India remained Nepal’s largest source market, accounting for 32,662 visitors, or over 42 percent of the total arrivals. The United States followed with 9,696 tourists, while China ranked third with 6,736 visitors. Other significant contributors included Bangladesh (5,449), the United Kingdom (2,284), Australia (1,831), Malaysia (1,348), Bhutan (1,167), Japan (1,019), and South Korea (1,002).
In terms of regional distribution, the majority of tourists—52.4 percent or 40,023 individuals—came from South Asia (SAARC countries). Asia (excluding SAARC) contributed 12,674 visitors, making up 16.6 percent of the total. The Americas accounted for 10,735 visitors (14 percent), while 6,865 tourists (9 percent) arrived from Europe. Oceania sent 1,977 visitors (2.6 percent), followed by the Middle East with 810 (1.1 percent), Africa with 310 (0.4 percent), and other regions with 3,130 visitors (4.4 percent).
In the first six months of 2025 (January to June), a total of 577,689 tourists entered Nepal, with Indian nationals comprising the largest share at 147,839.
According to NTB, the data was based on preliminary figures provided by the Department of Immigration.
